Description: William Humphrey Marshall (1745-1818) was an 18th-century English writer on contemporary agriculture. He was an early proponent of the establishment of a state-sponsored body to promote improved farming standards and agricultural colleges. First edition in two volumes, nicely bound in full leather with gilt-ruled border to boards, spines with gilt banding, and gilt lettering on morocco labels. Externally, some bumping to corners, small loss at head of spine of Vol. I. Some cracking to upper joints of both volumesĀ upper joint resulting in just a little movement to upper board of Vol. I though otherwise holding well, others remainĀ firm. Armorial bookplate to front pastedowns (James Hallett). Internally, both volumes remain sound and firm, pages lightly age-toned with a little foxing to eps and first/last couple of leaves, occasionally elsewhere. Minor ink spotting to fore-edge of Vol. I.
