Description: Published in Philadelphia for George W Mentz, bookseller, this is an Old and New Testament bound as one. Biblical interpretation according to Dr. Martin Luther teachings. Printer is J. Howe of Philadelphia. In good condition; nice leather binding with a cracked hinge and scoffing but solid. Inside on front free endpaper is written a name in old brown ink (Daniel Mertz?) and over this, in pencil, is the Communion injunctions. Mentz was a publisher only who worked iwth Jedidiah Howe, a Philadelphia stereotyper who produced stereotyping for Bible published both by Mentz and by Thomas Kimber and Blakely Sharpless, both of Philadelphia. Howe died in 1834 but his stereotyped Bibles continued to be produced by Mentz.
