Containing floorplans and illustrations of monuments, furniture and art. Includes a portrait f Hubert Morette by Hans Holbein the Younger. Some buildings include the New Ulster Bank in Dublin, The Technical and Art Schools in Leicester, New Shire Hall Durham and the striking portal to Barcelona Cathedral. The characteristic features of the Edwardian Baroque style were drawn from two main sources: the architecture of France in the 18th century and that of Sir Christopher Wren in England in the 17th. Some of the architecture that borrowed more heavily from the English Baroque architects was known by the term Wrenaissance. This period of British architectural history is considered a particularly retrospective one, since it is contemporary with Art Nouveau. This period was revolutionary for architecture as Victor Horta drove forward Art Nouveau structures and the Paris Exhibition of 1889 showcases technologies never before seen for building.
