The company flourished in the 1880s and 1890s, but business began to ebb in the 1920s with the onset of automobile transportation. It had an international clientele and sold carriages for shipment throughout the US. For auction is an invoice dated May 22, 1891 for the purchase of a carriage by a firm in Staunton, Virginia; the price was $100. The invoice measures appx 8 1/2 x 5 1/2 inches and is printed on mid-weight paperstock. It is in good condition, for something over 120 years old. All writing/markings are from its use. There are no rips or tears. The back side has a piece of brown tape which shows through to the front side; this tape was apparently placed there for stabilizing the document for filing and it does not cover up any rips or tears. A nice item for the Dayton or Ohio history buff or for the collector of carriage memorabilia. Pictures sell! Auctiva offers Free Image Hosting and Editing.300+ Listing Templates!
