Description: While a lower-mintage Morgan dollar with fewer than 2.9 million struck, this 1897 Philly-minted issue is common in circulated grades and is widely available through at least MS65. In the grade of MS66 this piece becomes scarce and in MS67 or better it is quite rare. PLs and DMPLs are scarce bit available for a price in the lower uncirculated grades. Examples of both exist in the Gem range but are extremely scarce. Obverse: Portrait of Liberty centered. On the left are found 7 stars with the words E*PLURIBUS*UNUM followed by 6 stars on the right. The date is positioned at the bottom. Reverse: The heraldic eagle is centered holding a bunch of arrows and branch surrounded by and olive leaves.
