Scarce work. Illustrated with a colour plate, a map to the rear, and twenty-two monochromatic plates. Lacking colour frontispiece. A detailed study discussing Akhnaton or Akhenaten, the tenth ruler of the Eighteenth Dynasty. He is noted for abandoning Egypt's traditional polytheism, towards a more monotheistic worship around the god Aten. This was ultimately short-lived, and following the death of Akhenaten, the former polytheistic regime was restored, with monuments and statues of the Pharoah destroyed or hidden. Written by Arthur Edward Pearse Weigall, an English Egyptologist, stage designer, journalist, and author whose works focus on the histories of Ancient Egypt. Publisher's catalogue to the rear.
