Condition Report Externally Spine – good condition – gilt titles, sun faded, raised bands, some slight rubbing to the bands.Joints – good condition – gently rubbed, sun faded. Corners – good condition – very gently bumped and worn.Boards – good condition – polished green calf leather by Bumpus of Oxford, gilt lettering to the front board ‘Effingham House’, general signs of wear, the outer edges of the boards are also decorated in gilt.Page edges – good condition – all gilt.See above and photos. Internally Hinges – good condition – intact.Paste downs – good condition – plain with gilt lined dentelles, the book binders name is stamped in gilt along the bottom edge of the leather front paste down, there is also an Effingham House label pasted on the front paste down dated July 25th 1910, lightly tanned with some foxing.End papers – good condition – plain, lightly tanned with some foxing and offsetting from the dentelles.Title – good condition – black and yellow text with small vignette in the top left hand corner, lightly tanned with very minor foxing.Pages – good condition – illustrated with 200 drawings by the author, lightly tanned throughout.Binding – good condition.See photos.
