Canada had struck “Large Cents” since 1858. The last one was produced in May of 1920. Then Canada went to the “Small Cent” matching the 19-millimeter size of the “Lincoln Cents” then circulating in the USA. The "Large Cents" of King George V were issued each year between 1911 and 1920. The George V "Large Cents" are different from all the earlier Victoria and Edward coins in that they have the word "Canada" moved to the reverse. In 1918 World War I ended and Canada would repatriate over 650,000 soldiers from Europe. They were the lucky ones. They would leave around 66,000 behind, in graveyards.
