Nationalist-held Quemoy is only 2,200 yards from the mainland, where 220,000 Communist troops are massed. United Press staff correspondent Norman Williams, who toured Quemoy February 3, reported that the Nationalists state they can hold the island. Williams said, "After touring some of their key positions...I can see why they are confident."
