1986 Dodge Daytona

Description: FOR SALE: 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z, one of approximately 6000 equipped with factory T-tops. Optioned with desirable 5 speed manual transmission. Red exterior on black leather interior. Odometer show 3809, so likely 103,809 miles. Actual miles is listed as unknown due to being equipped with a 5 digit odometer. I have a clean Iowa title in hand. Car appears to be all original paint and interior with no rust. I bought this car out of North Carolina, and the original selling dealer's tag is still on the hatch. Black leather bucket interior is really nice, and the carpet is nice, but the floor mats are worn out. Car still has the original bags to store the T-tops when they are removed. Original doughnut spare tire and jack are still in place. Car still retains its original AM/FM cassette player, although I have not tested it. The motor is running when you turn the switch on, so I suspect the linkage has popped off the end of the motor. The A/C does not blow cold, but the compressor does cycle on and off. It will need to be recharged at a minimum. There is a fuel leak from the gas tank if you fill it all the way to the top and leave no room. It appears there is a hose leaking on top of the tank, but if you don't fill the tank clear to the top- it is not an issue. I have not had time to investigate further. The clock (chronometer) on the instrument panel does not work. It does like up, but the buttons do not work. Replacements are available on eBay, including NOS units should you want to fix it. The headliner is just beginning to sag in one corner, and may need attention in the future. This is a common problem with Mopars of this vintage unfortunately. The rest of the car appears to be in great shape. This is one of the nicest original Daytonas that I have come across. The reason I am selling is simply that I have too many projects, and don't have the time to give this car the attention it deserves. The door panels are missing the hard-to-find bezels that go around the door handles. I have a pair of New Old Stock ones that will go with the car. Other items included with the sale: Universal car cover, NOS seal for the rear hatch, turn signal lever sleeve, complete set of 1 piece lug nuts, factory shop book, and finally a set of NOS ground effect pieces known as "fences" that attach to the bottom of the rocker panels. This Daytona is being sold "as is, where is" with no warranty express or implied. A personal inspection is highly advised to verify the condition. Study the pictures and the video carefully, as they are part of the description. While the car is driveable, I have not driven it more than a few blocks at a time, so my recommendation is that it is trailered until it has been mechanically inspected.
