1992 CLASSIC HOCKEY DRAFT [MANON RHEAUME] [PSA 10.00] [and KNOXILLE TEAM SET]

Description: This is a 1992 annual base set, made by Classic, featuring pro hockey draft picks. The featured card is the first-ever of the 'First Lady of Hockey,' smallish goalie Manon Rheaume. Rheaume never made the NHL, but she played on several men's minor league teams in the 1990s. She also proved to have been a mainstay for the often champion Canadian women's national team during that period. PSA grade is a perfect 10.00. In terms of Hall-of-Famers, the set includes Mario Lemieux [Card #66] while he had been playing for the Laval Voisins, of the Canadian juniors. The 10-Card LP chase set is included, along with all three (03) promo cards featuring Lemieux, Roman Hamrlik and Ray Whitney. There also exists two (02) autographed cards featuring Lemieux, as well as brothers Valerie Bure and Pavel Bure on a single card, but neither card is included here. You do get an unnumbered local team set, featuring the 1993-94 Knoxville Cherokees of the ECHL. And Rheaume is also featured there. I sent this card to PSA as well, but PSA declined to authenticate and/or grade the card -- because the card does not specify exactly who the card-maker had been. PSA also declined to authenticate and grade a card designated by Classic to have been signed by Manon Rheaume at a card show, but which never actually got signed. Athletes routinely appear at shows, and just as often several copies of the cards designated to be signed by the athlete never actually get signed -- for one reason or another. This is totally routine. Nevertheless, PSA will not authenticate and grade these types of cards. Still, this particular 'unsigned autograph card' has been offered here ungraded. The good news is Beckett Grading Service (BGS) accepted the Nashville Cherokee card. And PSA otherwise accepted a Manon Rheaume promo card. And both of those graded cards are offered here. Enjoy !!
