Description: This antique Chinese wood carved equestrian figure set is a true gem for collectors of Asian antiques. The set features two bookend brass stands, each with a beautifully hand-carved background of an India looking sunburst or flower. The horse and rider figurine have intricate detailing and color. The wood carving is interesting from skilled craftsmanship of the Chinese artisans from the pre-1800s era. The wood is very light weight and the figures are delicate. They do have wear and there are parts of the figures that are missing and or cracked and broken. The figures have been adapted on pegs to fit into the brass book ends. They are definitely one of a kind and unique in construction. Very unusual and fun. Great addition to your small book library shelf. Whimsical and a great conversation peice.
