Issued by Tuvalu, the coin celebrates many of the most popular emojis that people use online and in texts. The word "emoji" combines two Japanese words, "e," which means "picture," and "moji," which means "character. Part of a mintage of no more than 5,000 pieces, this coin was struck from 1 oz of .9999 fine silver at the Perth Mint. It bears that mint's famous "P" mint mark on the reverse. This proof comes with its original mint packaging. Fun emoji DesignThe coin's obverse bears a right-side portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Designed by Ian Rank-Broadley, this portrait has been appearing on coinage for over two decades. The monarch is shown wearing earrings and a tiara, and Rank-Broadley's initials, "IRB," are inscribed at the bottom of the effigy. The monarch's name, "QUEEN ELIZABETH II," arches over the image along the rim. From left to right, other rim inscriptions offer the coin's weight and purity, "1 OZ 9999 AG," its date, "2020," the name of the issuing country, "TUVALU," and the coin's face value, "1 DOLLAR."
