Description: A 20th century Chinese bronze censer that emulates the classic and ancient “Scholar Riding a Horse” traditional figure. Our censer depicts the bearded Scholar riding on the back of his horse/mule and dressed in a hat, long robes and carrying a scroll. The saddle displays long elegant side panels and trappings decorated with hanging tassels. The Scholar figure lifts off the horse/mule to reveal the incense cavity underneath. The bronze surface has been finished with a dark brown patina to further enhance it’s appearance. The piece is in very good condition.
