Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Available for sale is a 3 CD set containing a 2001 transfer of the complete recordings of Gilbert & Sullivan’s THE MIKADO that were produced in 1926 and 1936 for the HMV label (the Gramophone Company, Ltd.) The 1926 recording’s legendary cast includes Henry Lytton as Ko-Ko and is composed mainly of singers who performed the opera with the D’Oyly Carte Opera Company. (Many consider this to be the BEST Mikado ever recorded.) The 1936 recording features Martyn Green as Ko-Ko. Both recordings were made under the supervision of Rupert D’Oyly Carte and were produced using electric recording technology. The transfers by J. C. Lockwood/78s2CD were made from exceptionally fine sets of records that came from a private collection. As a result, the sound quality of the transfer is unsurpassed. Included is a booklet of liner notes. This 3-CD set comes from a non-smoking household and is in very excellent condition.
