We picked up a pretty large collection of slide from the 1960s to the early 1970s several years ago and just put them in one of the closets in the house. We got the collection form a lady who worked for and retired from the Red Cross. She moved to Korea before the Korean War and before it was split into North and South Korea. She later moved to Vietnam during the Korean War before moving back home to the states and retiring from the organization. There are some really cool slides in here of some from throughout North Africa, Asia and the United States. For sale is a group of five 35mm slides of two cool pieces of art on the outside of a temple and the temple itself somewhere in Vietnam.Given the subject matter of the two pieces of art, we thought they very well may be on the outside of a temple, pagoda or other sacred place given their importance in Vietnamese culture and beliefs.After looking through the slides a little more, we found one of a temple with one of the pieces of art on both sides the front entrance, as you can see in the pictures above.The other two slides may not be the temple or shot from the property, but they were with the slide of the temple and dated the same, so we included them with the others.The first slide looks like a mosaic of two large birds in a tree. These may depict the phoenix which is a mythical creature called a phuong hoang in Vietnamese culture.The other slide looks like a painting of a mythical creature with a body of a horse and a head of a dragon. From our understanding, this mythical creature is called a ky lan in Vietnamese culture.These slides are all dated June 1971.The slides are in excellent, undamaged condition and ready to be turned into photographs if desired.PLEASE NOTE: Our lighted table doesn't have a very strong light, so the slides aren't as bright as they would be when lit by a stronger light, such as in a projector. However, the slides are quite a bit brighter than shown in the pictures. These slides will be shipped in a padded envelope via media mail with the USPS.
