Description: 6 EXC ORIG CHARLIE CHAN IN MONTE CARLO/AT THE OPERA/ SECRET SERVICE/ AT ALCATRAZ/ IN SHANGHAI/IN RIO 1930s-40s 35MM TRAILER SIX CLIP/FRAME/CEL STRIPS Incredibly rare item for the vintage film and CHARLIE CHAN fan. Nearly impossible to find set of Six Different 4.5 inch long 35mm B&W filmstrips features six frames each from the “datestrip” or “trailerette” - a single image promotional trailer - to six of the all time classic Charlie Chan films, including one with an alternate title. These trailers were produced by the legendary FILMACK of Chicago in the 1930s and 40s, with each originally running about 10 seconds to promote the theater's coming attractions, These brief “trailerettes” each featured a unique, striking title card like image (along with musical soundtrack) promoting the upcoming attraction. Such films are extremely rare (as they were usually discarded after the playdate). All strips are in just about mint condition. Here is the rundown of each great strip: CHARLIE CHAN AT MONTE CARLO (1937) with great image of Warner Oland overlooking the title . CHARLIE CHAN AT THE OPERA (1936) with images of Oland and Boris Karloff (along with a Karloff starring credit) CHARLIE CHAN IN SHANGHAI (1935) with Oland photo and the tag line “Charlie Smashes An Opium Ring” CHARLIE CHAN IN THE SECRET SERVICE (1944) – Striking Art Deco Sidney Toler image noted here as “The Screens most Daring Sleuth” CHARLE CHAN AT ALCATRAZ (1946) with image of Sidey Toler and the tag line “Latest Charlie Chan Thriller” over Prison graphic. (A separate three frame image is also included). Film is better known as Dark Alibi before being re-titled. CHARLIE CHAN IN RIO (1941) with images of SIDNEY TOLER and MARY BETH HUGHES with the tag line “Death Strikes in the Land of gaiety”. Great set of rare 35mm frame strips!
