Description: A 6 1/4" tall / long clear-glass UNIQUE OVAL-shaped clear-glass antique TURTLE shaped BABY or NURSING bottle. This is not only an EARLY and UNIQUE shaped antique nursing bottle, but it also it has a picture of a BABY DRINKING MILK out of this BOTTLE embossed in a round slug plate covering the entire front side of this bottle. This is an ORIGINAL ANTIQUE hand Blown Into Mold bottle (BIM) with a tooled top, dating back to the late 1800's. Bottle embossed: "BABYS DELIGHT", with a picture of a little baby drinking milk through a rubber hose that is connected to this style of bottle! Backside has embossed horizontal lines, measurements, with the numbers 1 - 8 / FLUID / OUNCES. Condition: Bottle is in SPARKLING CLEAN condition. It has just some traces of age wear/haze, NO cracks, chips, dings, damage, etc. Please see pictures for overall idea of bottle's condition. These bottles originally took a rubber nipple that was attached to a rubber hose so that a baby could lie on its back with the bottle lying on its chest or side, with the nipple extending from the bottle to the baby, via the rubber hose. Not long after this bottle design came into existence there started to be hygienic problems associated with them. Even though the bottle could be cleaned and sterilized the tube/nipple feeding apparatus could not, and it became a breeding ground for bacteria that led to the death of infants, so this type of bottle was discontinued. As a result there' s not a whole lot of them around as they were in service for a short time.
