Description: Pleased to offer this outstanding and early folding fireplace screen made in France. It has the French hallmark on the fan blades as shown. This piece could date as early as the 1850's or as late as the 1890's. It's made from solid brass or bronze - if you take a good look at the photos, you can see the red in the metal in some areas. It shows intricate detailing throughout with a figural woman on the front, small gryphons, burning torch and more. The fan blades are just as impressive as they're a fine detailed mesh unlike any others I've come across. It displays even better in person and the fan blades fold up neatly when not in use. It measures 28" tall and 41" wide. Condition of this piece is excellent considering its age with no broken parts. There appears to be a small screw missing at the top near the handle on one side. Besides that, it shows normal signs of wear consistent with its age, such as minor dents to the mesh screens here and there, some light tarnish and oxidation, and possibly some slight warping to the base as the fan blades sit very well but not quite perfect. Please take a good look at each photo provided and ask questions prior to purchase. Condition is used with signs of age and wear - it's not perfect but very nice. A rare and beautiful piece that will make a fine addition to your home. Packed and shipped with care (double boxed) to ensure safe arrival
