This is a Rare Civil War Era China Doll! 1860-1870c. Alice is over 150 years old! Alice is a flat top, high brow China Doll. She is 9 1/2”. She has a porcelain head and shoulder plate, porcelain hands and feet. Her shoes are powder pink and she has pink and green rococo ribbon garder bows! Alice has dark hair with a center part, her molded hair has soft waves. Alice has one stroke eye brows, blue eyes, a tiny button nose and beautifully painted red rose bud lips and blush cheeks. Alice has her original sawdust muslin body sold “as is”. Alice has her Original Antique peach color Silk Dress with Silk Pearl Soutache Trim, Valenciennes Lace and Original peach silk tiny ribbon bows. Alice has Antique Victorian blue and Pearl Tambor tulle lace apron. There is an antique rococo blue rose accent. Alice has her Original teared ruffled beige linen petticoat and matching bloomers with Valenciennes Lace trim. Alice has a matching Antique Bonnet with Valenciennes Insert Lace with peach Silk ribbon. The front of the bonnet has blue silk bow and Rococo Ribbon blue rose. The back of the bonnet has a flower medallion insertion lace with blue silk ribbon. Just adorable. Alice also a Garden Rose Wreath with stamens and pink silk ombre ribbon. Alice has a Antique Trunk. Her trunk is dark green on the outside with red and green marble color metal edging. The trunk is lined with antique red silk velvet on the inside cover. There is antique Silver Bouillon Lace Pocket on the right inside cover with Antique Die Cut Roses. The trunk has a tray that is covered with beautiful vintage tiny rose cotton muslin ribbon and Antique silk velvet ribbon. There are Antique Victorian Die Cut Roses on the front of the trunk. The sides have vintage Dresden die cut paper medallions. There are large reproduction rose graphics inside. There is a pillow and pillow case with Antique Victorian rose lace. There is a antique hankerchief with White Work roses and linen bedding with soft rose pattern. Alice has a hat box used as her table with reproduction rose diecut. She has a Antique Porcelain Bottle with sign that says “drink me”. She has an a Antique Skeleton Key. Alice has a old porcelain Chesire Cat with roses on it. “Curiouser and curiouser” Alice has a antique black velvet “Mad Hatter” Hat with an original black feather and Antique Silk Band. The hat has a reproduction Alice in Wonderland large tag. Alice has her Antique Silver Bouillon Lace Crown with a faux pearl. “Well, this is grand! “ said Alice “I never expected I should be a Queen so soon” Alice has a Vintage miniature floral Tea Set for her “Mad Hatter Tea Party”! The tea set was made in occupied Japan 1945-1952c. There is a vintage, stuffed “White Rabbit” with a vintage miniature Time Piece. Tatted lace collar with peach antique ombre ribbon. Alice: “how long is forever?” White Rabbit: “Sometimes, just one second” Alice also has vintage brass and pink DoorMouse. Alice has Vintage Red Velvet Roses with Red Velvet Leaves. “We are painting the roses red” Please do not bid on my dolls if you are not passionate about faded glory and grandeur! Alice is over 150 years old. She is beautiful and timeless in her appeal. These dolls were never meant to last this long. Doc joy reports: Alice had surgery a few years back to remove the wire armature that was broken and protruding thru her body. The surgery went very well. She lost a minimal amount of sawdust. She was patched up with lovely old lace medallion. Her right arm was compromised, a small tear, she received Valenciennes Lace cuffs for her conservation and preservation. These cuffs just give her a better chance of not tearing and support. Her dress was then sewn on her for even more protection and support. She is a show doll and should be handled with care. I donot recommend taking off her dress. She fits in my China Cabinet so she is behind glass. No doubt she has always been behind glass considering her amazing good condition. One finger feels rough and one pink boot is rough at the toe but seems like they could be that way from the greenware process of porcelain before glazed. Certainly not noticeable at all. She is sold “as is”. The silk dress has a split. It is located under her apron in her lap on her left side front, not really noticeable and apron now protects it. There are splits, pin holes and discoloration on the petticoat and all materials show their age. All very minor for her age. Her face has pock marks from firing and her black hair glaze was thinly applied. She is not perfect but remarkably preserved. She is just a little sweet beauty. She is a collector’s dream. Her flaws have all been considered when I priced her. They are all commensurate with her age. Please look at all photos as they help with her description. I will consider any good offers for her.
