We believe the patent is for the closing clasp mechanism which has 2 teeth that each fit into an individual slot, and a button on the edge that releases the clasp when pushed. It is a very stunning piece. There is no gold content indication anywhere on the bracelet. Marking gold for its karat content did not become a required practice in the US until 1906, and this bracelet preceded that time. The bangle is small. It is an oval shape instead of round. The exterior of the bangle is smooth on each side but has a lovely delicate raised decoration on each end and beading around the top and bottom. It is a very stunning piece. There is no gold content indication anywhere on the bracelet. Marking gold for its karat content did not become a required practice in the US until 1906, and this bracelet preceded that time.
