Description: Antique Japanese (mid Meiji) small cloisonne circular box 2.5"D x 1.25H depicting Butterfly in Garden on "goldstone" (exploded mica) background. Different colors of powdered glass are separated by hair-thin copper or silver wires; when fused in a kiln becomes enamel which must be ground and polished into final shape. No damage anywhere, but copper or silver wires have tarnished over the years (you can lightly stroke the wires with a pencil eraser to bring up original color -- do NOT use silver or copper polish which will leave traces of white.) A delicate addition to your collection.
