Description: Kestner “Hilda” 237 25” in very good condition. She has a bisque head, blue glass sleep eyes, an open mouth with 2 porcelain upper teeth. Her body is a 5 piece composition baby doll (the purchase documentation said she is on the correct five piece Kestner baby body but I cannot confirm that). She has her original human hair wig. I see no damage to her bisque and her body seems in excellent antique condition but I am not even close to an expert. Another collector told me the following: "From what I see in your last photo, this head has had some restoration done. It was air brushed to cover the rear airs. Notice the 2 different colors. Also, it looks like someone re-etched the markings in the repaint as they are not mold perfect .The body may not be a Kestner body as the hands are not Kestner hands. It also is shiny. Kestner baby bodies had a mat finish and a pinker flesh color. The size is good and it serves the purpose so it’s not a major problem." She is incised on the back of the head “0//made in//18//Germany//J. D. K.//237//25”; and some marking on the base of the neck. She wears a 3 piece Christening gown (coat, gown, slip), made of wool in yellow trimmed with white lace. The coat has abalone pearl buttons. She does not have a diaper or underwear. She wears crocheted booties with ribbon ties that are glued to her feet and a vintage bonnet. Her clothes are in excellent condition. When this doll was purchased, we were told that she had a fracture to the lower right side of the neck that was professionally repaired by a very well known doll restoration expert that can only be seen on the inside of the head. I did not photograph this. She can sit up on her own but leans a little to the left. Her head is a little loose and her right eye does not close completely. She was owned by a doll collector and was displayed in a cabinet behind glass in an airconditioned room in a smoke free home.
