Description: A heavy linen sheet from France with a hand-sewn central seam and probably dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. These wonderful old sheets were made from locally grown flax and hemp and woven on village looms. These were about one metre wide, so two lengths were then sewn together to make one sheet. If the sheet was later damaged, one half could be replaced. In good condition, newly washed. The picture shows it on top of a UK kingsize bed. Measures approx 262cm long x 194cm wide. Weighs 3lb 9oz (1.79kg).
