Description: This is a wonderful and charming Antique Old 19th c. American Folk Art CAT Kitten Oil Painting on Artist Board, depicting a striped gray & black tabby cat lapping up milk from a large saucer on the floor. The cat is rendered with exquisite and realistic detail, and the scene is heartwarming and affectionate in its tone. Signed: "Greenus" in the lower left corner. I could not identify the artist behind this piece, but perhaps you recognize them or their work? Approximately 15 3/8 x 18 3/8 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 11 3/8 x 14 3/8 inches. This painting likely dates to the 1880's - 1900's. Good condition for over a century of age, with moderate scuffing, edge wear, gilding loss and cracks to the ornate hand carved gilded wood frame (please see photos carefully.) Additionally, there are a few faint scuffs to the painted surface. The upper left corner of the gilded wood frame is cracked in such a precarious way, that there is a 50/50 chance it will break off during shipping. The buyer of this piece recognizes this and waives all damage claims in regard to the frame condition of this painting upon delivery. This fantastic piece of 19th century American Folk Art and cat iconography is priced to sell. Acquired in Los Angeles County, California. If you like what you see, I encourage you to make an Offer.
