Antique Satirical MDarly Strand "The Hopes of a Family" Cambridge 1772 Pasquin

Description: This would make for a great gift for high school student or family of a student who is applying or just got admitted to college.The Original piece (I'm not sure when this one was made) concerns the subject of a high school (English Public School) student getting admitted to Cambridge University in 1772. This makes the family proud of their son. (See last picture for what the orginal etching looks like made by Anthony Pasquin. This example is in the Yale Lewis Walpole Library in New Haven, CT. Framed this is about 15 X 18 inches, the print itself is about 10 X 14 Inches. Printmaker John Williams later adopted the pseudonym Anthony Pasquin. Initial letters of publisher's name in imprint form a monogram. Sheet trimmed to plate mark on top edge leaving thread margin. A different, probably earlier, version of no. 4727 in the Catalogue of prints and drawings in the British Museum. Division I, political and personal satires, v. 4.
