Description: Believe this to be a late 19th century century monk's (holy oil or holy water) bottle sewn into pouch of homespun red (hand dyed) wool fabric and yellow / golden lining. Exceptionally vibrant colors, likely natural dyes. Lining hand-stitched. Brass Stopper secured by three types of cord and hard tight grained wood end piece. Secured with natural silk? or yak ? cord and attached to brass fittings. Flask material not visible as stitching not removed. Based on examining interior of flask I believe this is copper. Bottom corners of bag are not stitched closed. From my research these were worn outside robes and suspended from belt.
