On letterhead of the Inter-State Postgraduate Medical Association of North America to Mr. Paul Wurtzel, Freeport Printing Company, Freeport, Illinois. In full: "Please change the second part of Dr. Claude S. Beck's title to read as follows: "Lieutenant Colonel, M.C., Surgical Consultant Fifth Service Command, Columbus, Ohio. Thanking you, I am Yours sincerely." Dr. Arthur G. Sullivan of Madison, Wisconsin was the Managing Director of the association, which had been founded in 1916 for the purpose of extending medical knowledge, elevating the standards of medical education and promoting fellowship among physicians. Based in Madison, Wisconsin, it is among the oldest continuous medical teaching assemblies in North America.
