Description: Bi-fold autographed program for the January 25th, 1958 performance of Britten’s cantata, “St. Nicolas” op. 42 at Duke’s Hall at the Royal Academy of Music in London. The composer has boldly signed on the performance contents page. We offer with a 5” x 7” matte, doubleweight photograph. “St. Nicolas” was commissioned by Lansing College for their Centenary and took him 6 months to craft. It was first performed at Britten’s Aldeburgh Festival on June 5, 1948, with his partner Peter Pears singing the tenor part, which he reprises here a decade later. The cantata was the first work Britten wrote for an amateur ensemble and is scored for tenor, boy soloists, piano duet, a small string orchestra, organ and percussion. The work was first recorded in 1955. Harmonie Autographs and Music, Inc.Music Antiquarian and AppraiserNew York, New YorkAll items guaranteed authentic
