Description: Here is a nice unmounted photograph of two Isleta Pueblo Indian Water Carriers from New Mexico. Photograph by C B Waite of Los Angeles. 1896. The two women are in full traditional garb with decorated pots of water on their heads. *Charles Betts Waite (1861-1927) was a traveling photographer in the American Southwest and Mexico. He photographed Santa Catalina Island before the turn of the century. He first delved into photography when he was in his late twenties, working as a view photographer for Burdick and Company in Los Angeles. Over time, Waite became known for his work as a landscape photographer with his own studio. He died in Mexico on March 22, 1927. Trimmed down to 4 ¾” x 7”. This has some mild edge wear and some sort of circular stamping on the back. It looks to be dated 1899. The image is very sharp and clean. Powered by eBay Turbo ListerThe free listing tool.
