This steel striker produces great sparks when used with sharp flint. I usually knap the edges of the flint, making certain I get good sparks. Flipping the rock upside down at times can really expose more sharp edges. I advise turning it often and to occasionally give some edges a light sharpening with the steel handle turned with the open space.
