It provides a series of semi-biographical sketches on General Joseph Wheeler as well as a history of his campaigns and service in both the Union and Confederate uniforms. General Wheeler has the rare distinction of serving as a general during wartime for two opposing forces: first as a noted cavalry general in the Confederate States Army in the 1860s during the Civil War, and later as a general in the United States Army during both the Spanish-American War and the Philippine-American War near the turn of the twentieth century. For much of the Civil War he served as the senior cavalry general in the Army of Tennessee and fought in most of its battle in the Western Theater. He also fought against General Sherman’s invading force into Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina during Sherman’s March to the Sea and subsequent Carolinians Campaigns. Between the Civil War and The Spanish-American War, Wheeler served multiple terms as a U.S. Representative from the State of Alabama. The book contains information on his life and military service. The book combines two book into one. First is Wheeler’s Campaigns of Wheeler and His Cavalry; second is the graphic account of Wheeler’s Santiago Campaign in Cube in 1898.
