Description: This unique piece features a catlinite stone pipe attached to an old rifle barrel, both handmade by Native American Indians. Circa: 1870s to 1910 or so. Rifle barrel measures 17" long x 2" tall x 1 1/2" wide. Pipe measures 4 3/4" long x 2 3/4" tall x 1" wide. Typically, they would find an old rifle discarded on the prairie or battlefield and covert part of it to use as a "Pipe Stem or Shaft." The provenance of this item is not available, but it is clear that it was crafted with care and attention to detail. Circa---early 1900s. Old leather sinew original tie and tacks on barrel. No damage that I can see. Museum quality piece. See all photos as no returns. Magnificent pipe and "heavily smoked".
