Description: Chester Barrie Savile Row Burlington Suit in Dark Grey Hopsack New with tags in UK/US 38R This is a Burlington suit by Chester Barrie, produced in early 2010s. The Burlington block was designed by the late Edward Sexton, invited by the director of the brand Christopher Modoo. Sexton was a marvellous London-based tailor who was a key figure of the peacock revolution in 1960s, along with Tommy Nutter. The suit is in English worsted wool hopsack. Produced by Wensum in Mauritius, the front panels of the jacket are half-canvassed. No other suit in this tier was tailored better than a Burlington suit as I believe. The suit boasts a stark and streamlined silhouette: the jacket has a full chest, a strong waist suppression, and a flared skirt. With the slanted hip pockets, this silhouette creates an archetypal Savile Row look that has otherwise never been seen on a half-canvassed off-the-peg suit. The close-fitting trousers have darted fronts, a split-back waistband with an extension, and side adjusters. The suit was never worn. The basting stitches at the ankles are intact, and the hip pockets of the jackets still remain closed. The sleeves have been lengthened out and neatly finished with sham buttonholes and addition of wool flannel inside. The cuffs can be re-adjusted with no hassle, and can easily be modified into surgeon's cuffs. Even if the traces of the stitches are left, the speckled nature of the grey suiting will effectively hide them. Other than this alteration, the suit is brand new with no defect.
