Description: An Original Union Army US beltplate dug at Petersburg, Virginia, years ago, I am told was dug in the vicinity of Confederate Battery # 15, near the intersection of Baylor's Creek and Sussex Road, on private property. This was the scene of have fighting and repeated Union Army assaults on the Confederate fortifications in 1864. The handsome plate has a pleasing green patina. The reverse has nice age and is uncleaned, with brass arrowhead hooks and the early style thick brass belt hook. The reverse is pen marked "Petersburg Virginia Battery B".
