Description: DE PROFUNDIS BY OSCAR WILDE (1905, 1ST EDITION, 1ST PRINTING) OWNED BY COLLECTOR. Book has an interesting history! In excellent antique condition. Cover is intact with minimal wear for age (see all pictures). Pages are also in great shape with only minimal stray pencil markings, including those indicating item provenance (see description). Inside cover includes an Ex Libris Sticker with an interesting history. This book was formerly part of the collection of E. Coster Wilmerding, a well-known New York City Stockbroker and Philanthropist who died in 1950. There are a couple New York times articles about him online (unfortunately behind paywalls). Additionally there is another Ex-Libris Sticker from a George Hadley III of Salyer California. Also there are some pencil markings indicating some provenance. I can identify the words "First Issue of First Edition", and a note indicating an appraisal value in 1975. Finally there is a clipping of a catalog presumably from which the book was purchased by the one of its collectors, this appears to have been t one point glued to a page in the book but is now loose. A truly interesting collectible with a fascinating bit of history! See all pictures and feel free to message with questions. I will send insured and require a signature. USPS Priority.
