Description: Diecast Model CarMaisto / TrophyPorsche 550A Spyder1:32 Scale - Approx. 10cm Length Maisto can trace its roots back to MC Toys (an abbreviation of May Cheong Toy Company) which was founded in Hong Kong in the 1960s. The company specialised in producing models in 1:64 scale, many of them copies of the better known Matchbox and Hot Wheels models, but also producing castings of their own. Early models were relatively low quality but by the 1980s the company were obviously paying licensing fees to be able to produce much more accurate depictions of actual cars. Around the late 1980s or early 1990s the company began to focus more on larger scale models at 1:18 or 1:24, and these were produced under the Maisto brand name. In 1992 an arrangement that MC Toys had with Intex/Zee Toys where they provided cars under the Zylmex brand came to an end. Looking to market cars under their own brands, the name evolved from MC Toys to Maisto right across the range including the 1:64 scale diecast cars. The company continues to manufacture today. Bburago and Polistil were both acquired by MC, which still has a strong market presence under the Maisto brand for the larger-scale collectors' models, whilst its "Fresh Metal" series of 1:64 models competes with the likes of Matchbox and Hot Wheels and continues to produce pocket-money priced toys. This model, marketed under the "Trophy" name, depicts a Porsche 550A Spyder, in silver. It features opening doors. New and Unused condition, in original box. Box is good, with light wear but no serious rips, splits or creases. Model is as new, only being taken out of the box to photograph.
