Description: Hello! You are looking at a listing for an excellent hardcover copy DR. JEKYLL AND MR. HYDE by Robert Louis Stevenson. It features gorgeous art noveau designs on the front and the collection title "Popular Edition". It measures approximately 7.75" x 5" x 1 inch. There is no date inside the book. It was produced by Universal Publishing Co., which The Lucille Project by University of Iowa dates to be between 1892-1900; on their website, one can find a few other books published in the same brief moment. It is part of the "Popular Edition" set of classics. If the University of Iowa's dates are accurate , this would have been published 6 years - 14 years after the first printing of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. This is a VERY early copy of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, as well as an extremely rare one. The brothers running Universal Publishing Co. were known charlatans who ran many publishing companies at the same time without proper documentation or registration, according to the Lucille Project's website. This copy may not have been traditionally authorized, as such. You can access this information by searching "Universal Publishing Company 1800s" It is in good condition, with regular wear & regular foxing, delicate paper. Binding ok, some water damage, some dirt and marks. Wear at title edge on top and bottom. There are some printing errors throughout. The cover inks are in good condition, with gilding mostly intact.
