Hubs was able to attach the handle and it's almost good as new. Practiced and figured out the technique.Flour Tortillas:3 cups all-purpose flour1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon baking powder (if desired, can be made without BP but use the higher amount of lard)3/4 teaspoon salt2-3 Tablespoons lard (works with either amount)about 3/4 to 1 cup warm waterI use my Bosch stand mixer and mix everything together (except for the water) with the dough hook until lard is mixed in, then add the water until a ball forms and let knead a few minutes.Shape into 12 balls, flatten with flour and let rest at least 20 minutes, covered.Heat tortilla cooker on high, when green light goes on lay your flattened dough ball slightly above center and close the lid. (if your dough ball flies out, use more flour on the dough before setting on the hot plate). When dough starts to squeak, let up on the press and open lid, flip tortilla. When you see some bubbles on the top, flip the last time and close the lid, the tortilla will puff up and the lid will rise; you can slide your tortilla off. I also tried make roti of dough with leftover daal and paratha to it came perfect. Forgot to take those pictures..I would 100% recommend this product.. i have regret that I should have purchased it long back..You just need to take care of few things.1) Doughs should be extra soft. The more soft your dough is the most good will be your roti. 2) Put it on high temperature and start making it once it properly hot. meantime you can make your dough balls ready. For Serious Tortilla Makers, and Newbies Who want a great tortilla Press 10 Nov 19 I love this product. It was supper easy to use. Easy to clean. The pressure you need to use to flatten the tortilla was minimal. I tested 3 other tortilla presses on and this was the best product. It came a week and half after I ordered, but it was not from fulfilment so that is pretty fast. No damage was on the box and I recomend this product to any serious tortilla lover! Poor Design 7 Apr 19 This is simply to weak to press dough into a thin cake. You would have to press the dough multiple times, each time rotating, moving the dough ball. And the handle is simply too week. You would rather be far better with a simple wooden roller. I knew that this function wouldn't work.But I bought this for mainly baking, reheating. But even for the baking purpose, this product is lousy. The main problem is that the bottom and top plates are hinged at the back with no room adjustment - the top plate doesn't sit on the cake evenly. The gap between the two plates wold be in 'V' shape. Both plates touch the cake only at the back end, and for 99% of the area the top plate would be away from the cake. The hinge design could have been easily modified so that top plate sits parallel to the bottom plate on the dough cake. It is heart breaking to see how horribly they failed to notice it. Because, the top plate doesn't touch the cake, the cake simply gets dried up to brittle instead of a nice, moisture-locked bake.I'm going return this crap. Unfortunate that I will have to bear the return shipping costs. Delivered broken TWO times in a row!! - Do not recommend. 25 Oct 18 We ordered the first one and it came broken in the package. Okay, shit happens, so we gave it the benefit of doubt and returned and re-ordered it. But lo and behold - it came broken the second time as well! Even worse, the second one had all kinds of things wrong with it - it looked like it was used (fingerprint and grease marks, the handle on the lid was dirty, etc.) along with having a scratched non-stick surface. I've tried to highlight these in the attached pictures.I think this is mass-produced by one manufacturer and distributed under different brand names, because I saw a review for a different brand of tortilla/roti-maker on , that looked just like this one, that also had arrived broken in the package. The plastic part in the bottom seems to be of poor quality and seems to be break each time. BEWARE - I would NOT recommend buying this. I don't even know why I gave it two stars. Bad product and poor return policy 17 May 18 Giving one star because less than this is not allowed. Please don?t buy it. The product doesn?t work as described. The tortillas are very hard. I returned this product after using for 3 days. To make it worse I had to pay $8 shipping for return. After a week I got only $14 out of $34 I had paid to buy it. It?s like I paid $42 in total and finally after return I got back only $14. It is really surprising that is entertaining such sellers. It doesn?t mash the masa enough to make a tortilla and if you have it hot good luck doing anything with it. To Tortilla or not to Tortilla 31 Oct 17 Bought this little baby for my BF who loves to make tortillas, although a lot less work and cheaper to buy at the store, there is something to be said about fresh homemade tortillas. He also uses it as a quesadilla maker. NO complaints here Fantastic nonstick tortilla press/cooker 13 Sep 17 The non-stick on this press is awesome. My old tortilla maker was great for flour tortillas, but eating autoimmune paleo, I had to start making tortillas with cassava flour. The cassava flour tortillas stuck to my old nonstick tortilla maker with a vengeance. It was unusable. The nonstick on the Brentwood tortilla maker is fantastic. My tortillas don't even think of sticking. In fact, I have to flatten my dough balls to disks, otherwise, they just skip across the cooker when I try to press them because it's so slick. If it works this well for an uber-sticky dough, I know it will work well with a traditional tortilla of wheat flour.The multiple heats are awesome, because the nontraditional flours that I use cook at different temperatures. This tortilla maker is much lighter than my old one, in fact, I thought it was a deficit until I started cooking with it.
