Description: This is a 24.75” x 18.75” framed artwork by Felipe Islas. The artist has written a poem on the back of the painting. Painting is presented within a gold-tone frame that is mounted on a canvas board in a wooden frame. On back of artwork is a nahuatl poem. I transcribed it as best as possible below but please view the photos for details. Signed and dated by the artist himself, the piece is an original production from 1968. It is handmade and features mid-century realism style with Aztec and Mayan cultures. This piece depicts the figure Tezcatlipoca, an Aztec God of providence, the invisible and darkness, lord of the Night, Ruler of the North. The depiction of Tezcatlipoca is most likely inspired by Codex Borgia, a Mesoamerican ritual and divinatory manuscript. This artwork is in decent condition. You will see age marks and dings on both the artwork and the frame. Has been stored in the garage for decades. SEE PHOTOS FOR DETAILS. I try to provide you with the best description but the photos will tell full details.
