Description: This is a jewel-like and Fine Vintage Old French Paris Impressionist Cityscape Oil Painting on canvas, by very seldomly seen and immensely talented Parisian painter, A. Degen. This work likely dates to the 1950's - 1960's, and depicts a bustling cityscape scene on Rue Saint Denis, one of the oldest streets in Paris. The orange glow of a beautiful sunset sky above, and the indoor lighting of various cafes on each side of the street warmly highlights this image, with various figures and automobiles driving down the rain slicked roadways. Titled: "Paris Str. St. Denis" in the lower left corner and signed: "A. Degen" in the lower right corner. I could not find much information on this masterful French painter, but perhaps you know more about them or their work? I could only find one painting by this artist ever offered for sale online, and this piece is the better of the two. Approximately 14 1/2 x 19 1/2 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 12 x 17 inches. Very good condition for age, with some light scuffing and edge wear to the original period gilded frame (please see photos.)
