While some readers of this little book may not agree with my position on some issues, I hope that these writings at least generate some thought about the important subjects they address. Author Biography Jerry Boyd lives in Eastern Oregon and is currently in his 50th year in public safety. He currently serves as the Reserve Commander with a local law enforcement agency and coordinates a five county, regional law enforcement training academy. His career began at age 18 when he served as a Technical Reserve (Communications) with the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Department. Later, he moved up the ranks until, in 1981, he was appointed Chief of Police for the City of Coronado California and served in that capacity for ten years. The last five years of his full time law enforcement career were spent as Chief of Police in Martinez, California. In 2003, Jerry and his family re-located to Eastern Oregon; not long after that, he was appointed Director of a Consolidated 9-1-1 Dispatch Center, a position he held for 8-1/2 years until again retiring. Now, as a retired law enforcement officer, Jerry runs the Eastern Oregon Regional Reserved Officer Training Academy.
