This is card #667 Charlie Gehringer (photo originally taken by photographer Charles Martin Conlon in 1933) picturing the Detroit Tigers' Hall of Fame second sacker in batting pose. The designation "The Game of the Century" is printed diagonally across the card's front while the back is devoted to a statistical accounting of The Mechanical Man and his 1933 - and subsequent - All-Star performance. It is difficult to see the gold-trimmed border on this scan, but on the card it is bright and clear. *This card, together with another gold-trimmed card (#730 Old Aches and Pains/Luke Apping) was issued in quantities of just 20,000 nationally. It carries a 1992 copyright date and, in effect, was an unmarked Promotional card because the regular #667 was issued in 1993 and is so marked.
