It is an identical recreation of the Jaques of London Chessmen Circa Nathaniel 1849 Cooke Staunton Pattern Chessmen. These Chessmen innovations are 3.625" King with a 1.75" diameter base and are very densely weighted. This is an exact mirror image of the original boxwood and ebony Staunton castle chess wood. These hand-carved chessmen are produced with high grades of wood. This excellent workmanship on the original knights was derived from 1806 by Thomas Bruce, 7th lord of Elgin Marbles.
