Haydn/Boccherini Cello Concertos - Sádlo, Prague Radio

Description: This 1963 Czech import stereo album by Supraphon (SUA ST 50495) features a concerto by Haydn that had only just been discovered the previous year: Concerto in C Major for Violoncello and Orchestra (Hoboken VII b:1). That is followed by a Luigi Boccherini work: Concerto in B Flat Major for Violoncello and Orchestra. Both are performed by cello soloist Miloš Sádlo, accompanied by the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Alois Klíma. Extensive gatefold album notes are by Tomislav Volek in English, French, German and Russian. The outer sleeve is thin material, showing some corner bending and several price stickers, but its plastic front lamination is still very good and the disc itself is excellent. The gatefold album shows only the mono stock number on the front, but both mono and stereo stock numbers are on the back, and the disc itself is labeled as stereo. (This does not appear to be a later reissue as there is no pressing date year on the label, something that Supraphon began adding later in the 1960s.) This is one of many titles from an extensive collection of classical LPs and CDs that we will be listing here. All have been carefully stored for many years, played only on premium equipment, and show little to no wear.
