Description: For sale is a copy of a western story, set in the desert of southern Arizona, by Frances Charles, IN THE COUNTRY GOD FORGOT A Story of To-Day. A first edition copy, from 1902, this copy was printed at the University Press under John Wilson and Son of Cambridge, MA. Sage green cloth covers the boards and spine with gilt text decorating the spine along with a green cactus motif. The front cover is decorated with red text and an art nouveau border surrounding more of the green cactus motif of the spine. Approximately 5 1/2" x 7 7/8" with 328 pages. The book is in fairly good condition for its age. The cover shows wear in the form of banged and worn corners and the top and bottom of the spine, a little soiling. The book was at one time property of the Adelphian club, and was part of a private circulating library; they have inscribed the first page of the story, have stamped the end paper and may have made marks in a few other spots. There is a little writing on the front end paper which appears to be pricing. The Adelphian Club had glued a piece of cardstock to the front end paper, on the board. I have tried to show examples of these things in the photos provided, but if you feel like you need other images in order to make an informed purchase please let me know. Let me know if you have any questions, and thanks for considering this book!
