Description: This is version 2 of my Intellivision Controller Coupler. It comes in three variations: Variation 1 - The original 1979 Console (2609) and most classic models. Variation 2 - Intellivision Flashback controllers which were release Circa 2014. Variation 3 - Intellivision II Let me know which variation you'd like for your system Version 2 is designed to better support dual D-pads for future games like a port of Robotron. Overall stronger reinforced design as well. The solution was made to address a number of classic Intellivision games. Games such as Advanced Dungeons and Dragons, Night Stalker, Tron Deadly Discs and others require you move with the disc and shoot with the number pad to indicate direction. This was very innovative at the time, but the hardware had a flaw. Button pressing of the keypad created an interrupt in the input of the movement disc. This couple exploits a solution that always existed which is that if you used the disc of player 1 and the number pad of player 2 controllers, you could in fact move and shoot seamlessly. Brilliant! However one quickly realizes that holding the two controllers, one in each hand, is awkward at best.. Behold! The Intellivision controller coupler! This simple solution allows you to clip two controllers together making them become a single unit. The device clips on easily behind the controller and creates a nice snug, yet non damaging coupler that allows the player to comfortably make two controllers become effectively one. It's also worth noting that no two player games relied on this kind of run and shoot mechanic. When you want to get back to playing other normal games simply pop the coupler out and you're back to normal Intellivision fun.
