Description: A monumental ceramic coffee table by Joel Cottet, a ceramicist out of Portland Oregan. Joel Cottet experimented with large size ceramic firing in the 70s and was one of the first to succeed in producing furniture sized pieces out of ceramic. It was reported he used 100s of low wattage bulbs to allow the ceramic to dry for weeks before firing. After his untimely death, his barn which housed all of Cottet’s equipment burned down and the process was lost up until modern times where larger kilns and better processes were developed. This is one of 5 coffee tables that Cottet produced. COttet also produced about 5-10 dining sets with ceramic chairs. This coffee table with a gorgeous green blue and lavender glaze showing glaze pops and great movement and texture. A very heavy piece sure to anchor your next design project. Thes piece is signed on the bottom. This table would work well with organic shaped sofas designed by Vladimir Kagan or Milo Baughman as well as Jane and Gordon Martz lamps.
