Description: Here is a very nice and rather large Civil War token made of brass, in quite pleasing collectible condition overall, measuring app. 1 & 1/4" across, with a reeded edge. This patriotic Pennsylvania piece shows mellow, even wear, with some small surface marks nothing overly distracting, and I have not cleaned or altered its appearance in any manner. Whether it has been cleaned in the past, I honestly am not too good at determining, but I have had it for a long time, as is. Seriously, its somewhat unusual toning almost makes me think it had been rubbed with silver ages ago. Three of the pictures have been "enhanced" for clarity, and the token is listed as Pennsylvania CWT 750T-1b in Rulau's reference work, where it is identified as an R7 piece. The obverse depicts a American eagle facing left, a barred shield upon its breast, arrows and an olive branch in its talons, the date "1862" below. "Granville Stokes" is around the top, with "Merchant Tailor - 609 Chesnut St. Philadelphia" along the bottom. The reverse reads "Fine Fashionable Clothing - 1862 - Granville Stokes - 609 Chesnut St. - Philadelphia". Lovely big CWT! $240. Please note I am always happy to combine shipping costs should you win more than one of my auctions, and I usually add just a minimal additional cost per item. Your business is sincerely appreciated!
