The corners have serious wear, the edges and spine ends have moderate wear. The 442 pages have tanned and have foxing and fingerprints all due to age. There is damage to the first 24 pages on the side text blocks. The previous owner’s name was written just inside the front cover and the second end page. No other marks were noted. The black and white illustrations\drawings are lovely engravings. The binding is fair, slightly cocked, securely sewn. No dust jacket was issued. This is published by an American company. It is a historical sketch of discoveries in Africa. It was a from the personal narrative of the author. What a delightful account of the author’s 16 years adventure!!!!!
